Wildomar Battery Backup: Include a Water-Outage Plan

Pair Wildomar battery backup with emergency water supplies, separate SCE and EVMWD contacts, and clear solar PPA equipment and payment terms.

A home battery can help a Wildomar household keep selected electrical loads running during an SCE outage. It does not keep the municipal water network operating or establish that tap water is safe. A useful preparedness plan covers both services before either is interrupted.

The city's utility directory identifies Southern California Edison as the electricity provider and Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District as the primary water and sewer provider. Confirm your own water supplier on your bill, particularly if your property has a different service arrangement.

Separate household power from water service

Properly configured solar and storage can supply backed-up circuits when the grid fails, as the Department of Energy explains. Your home's battery does not supply the water district's pumps, repair a water main or restore pressure outside your property.

This does not mean every electricity outage causes a water outage. It means working lights are not evidence that every utility service is available. Likewise, an SCE restoration update does not resolve a separate water-service problem.

For an illustrative household scenario, assume the battery supports the refrigerator, a few lights and phone charging while municipal water is interrupted. Those electrical functions can remain useful, but a powered refrigerator's water dispenser still depends on its water supply. Adding battery capacity would not resolve that missing service.

Store water alongside your battery plan

CDC's emergency-water guidance, updated June 27, 2025, recommends at least one gallon per person per day for three days and a two-week supply if possible. It advises allowing more for hot conditions, pets and certain household needs.

For a hypothetical four-person household, the three-day starting amount is 4 × 1 × 3 = 12 gallons, before those additional needs. This is a water-storage example, not a prediction of outage length or battery runtime.

CDC identifies unopened commercially bottled water as the safest, most reliable emergency source. Follow its storage guidance and expiration dates. Keep the household's water supplies accessible without blocking battery equipment or required service clearances.

Save the right contacts and follow the actual advisory

For EVMWD customers, the district directs water emergencies to 951-674-3146. Its online reporting service is for non-emergency concerns. Wildomar's directory lists 800-611-1911 for reporting an SCE outage. Save both numbers with your battery provider's support contact.

If a water advisory is issued, follow the specific instructions for your address. CDC distinguishes boil-water, do-not-drink and do-not-use advisories. Boiling does not make water containing harmful chemicals or toxins safe. During any drinking-water advisory, CDC says not to drink or use water from appliances connected to the water line, including refrigerator water and ice dispensers. Battery power does not change that guidance.

Build a clear solar-plus-battery scope

Ask your installer to identify supported circuits, battery power limits, usable energy and reserve settings. Backup duration depends on charge and household demand; solar replenishment depends on sunlight and compatible operating equipment. Our Wildomar emergency-plan guide can help organize household instructions.

A suitable qualifying no-upfront solar-plus-battery PPA can make equipment accessible without an upfront purchase. Under a PPA, the provider owns the solar system and you make ongoing electricity payments, as the CPUC solar guide explains. Confirm eligibility, rate, escalator, term, battery ownership and fees, maintenance, replacement and transfer provisions. Remaining utility bills still apply; no upfront cost does not mean free electricity or guaranteed savings.
